project
Over the past couple of days I have been working on a new project. I have been trying to make connections and partnerships with summer programs for the children living at the shelter. During the summer it is a very hard time for everyone in the shelter. Parents cannot look for jobs and take care of business if they have no where to send their children, since they are no longer in school. The problem with findig a summer camp for he children is the cost and transportation. Parents in the program wants to save their money inorder to buy housing. Paying 75 a week for a 8 week summer program is not possible. That is what i have been working on for the past couple of days. I am trying to find a summer camp that is willing to work with the shelter and provide transportation and free charge.

Chelsey: Where do volunteers get information about community resources or financial support for summer programs? I presume that information is an important part of your training, but it sounds as though such options are quite limited.
