Days 1-3 of the Hawken Farm

I am working on the Hawken Farm behind the White house with Allie Stuart and Liam. On the first day we spent the morning planning out what we wanted to do for the project as a whole. Stuart and I designed a lay out for a 4 by 8 by 6 chicken coup to hold Allie's chickens. We made a materials list of everything we would need and then called local stores to get a quote. We ordered 207 dollars of wood which we picked up from Carter lumber in Chardon the next morning. We cut all of our wood to the lengths in which we needed for the Chicken coup. After this, we went out to ACE hardware to pick up the remaining items on our materials list. I spent Tuesday afternoon out in the Garden planning where the plant beds would be and the boundaries of the chicken coup grazing area. I dug four 2 foot deep holes for the support posts of the chicken coup. This morning, we constructed the frame of the chicken coup in the wood shop and then transferred it to the garden. We finished the frame and then poured a total of 220 pounds of concrete throughout the four holes to create a sturdy base. We will allow for it to dry overnight and tomorrow we plan to continue working on finished the chicken coup.
